Spider-Man 2 on the PS2/Xbox nonetheless stands as one of the best superhero games yet. It gave you all of the powers of the hero along with a huge city to use them in. With Spider-Man 3 hitting next gen consoles, it wasn’t unreasonable to expect improvements over SM2 to make this the best superhero game yet. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case. Glitches, lazy game design, and an unmistakable feeling that the game was rushed to meet the day-and-date deadline of the movie drag Spider-Man 3 down from one of the potential all time greats down to mere bargain bin fodder.

Similar to the Spider-Man 2 game before it, Spider-Man 3 is an open world “sandbox” game where you are free to swing, jump, and crawl around New York City any way you want. As you play you earn new moves and abilities and combos that allow you to travel around faster as well as fight more effectively. There are ten different storylines you can play through which have you doing things like fighting gangs and classic Spider-Man villains as well as follow the main storyline from the movie itself. In addition, there are races spread throughout the city as well as hidden tokens to find. There is a ton of stuff to do in Spider-Man 3 in addition to the time you’ll likely spend just swinging around, so you can easily spend a good 15-20 hours with it in order to complete everything.

19.jpgThe third and last on the list to be described is the villain called Chameleon. He is Dmitri Smerdyakov, an illegitimate son of the patriarch of the Russian Kravinoff family and a servant. His father and half-brother, Dmitri, treated him with brutality and contempt. Because of this, he was deeply scarred and began to repress his very identity. This led him to become a master of disguise, wherein he can perfectly impersonate a person, and began to be called the Chameleon. To conceal his identity, he basically relies on his skills, mixture of costumes and make-up. He has a multi-pocket disguise vest where he keeps all his needed materials. Because of his many impersonations, the Chameleon, is tagged as one of Spiderman’s elusive enemy.

morlun.pngThere are a lot of speculations as who will be next villain that will test Spiderman’s strength. And the top three that is most likely to be chosen is Morlun, Lizard and Chameleon. A description of each villain will be given out.

First on Morlun, he is known to be a vampiric being that for centuries walked the earth and came from a race called “The Ancients”. He requires a pure source of power like the Totems (core power source of the universe) to satisfy his hunger, but feeding a lesser source like humans and super humans is just a temporary satisfaction. He is considered to have overwhelming powers that once he touched a person, he can easily track him wherever he is.

16.jpgIt was not the well-known costumed villains were Spiderman’s first enemy, but a common criminal known to be the burglar, who also killed his uncle Ben. This small time burglar played an important role that awakened Spiderman’s awareness of his responsibilities as a hero.

In the comic’s version, after running past Parker, the burglar broke into Parker’s house with the intention to rob it, when confronted, he shot and killed Ben Parker. He was chased and sent to jail. After serving his term, it was revealed that he had been looking for a bundle of money hidden in Parker’s house but had already been destroyed. When Spiderman confronted him again and told him that he’s Ben Parker’s nephew, the burglar was shocked, totally frightened and suffered a fatal heart attack.

In the movie version, The burglar was given the name “Dennis Caradine” and is portrayed as a carjacker, who shot Ben Parker and stole his car, rather than breaking into his house. Also Peter, chased him into a warehouse where he trips, falls from the window and plunges to his death.

But it was later revealed in the next Movie Series, that the real killer of Ben Parker was Caradine’s partner Marko, who accidentally shot Ben.
